Nepal Floods Emergency Appeal 2026

About us

Nepal needs our help now.

Devastating flash floods have torn through communities in Nepal, sweeping away homes, roads, and bridges, leaving families searching for loved ones.

At least 270 people have lost their lives, while more than 800 people remain missing or out of contact.

Behind every number is a family: a mother waiting for news of her child, a family standing where their home once stood, children who have lost their belongings, their security, and, in some cases, the people they love.

Please donate to our Nepal Emergency Appeal today and help us provide urgent relief to families affected by this disaster.

Nepal Floods 2026: A Nation Emergency Appeal for Survival

On 26 August 2026, catastrophic flash flooding struck northern Nepal following a major glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border. This type of disaster, known as a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF), is becoming more frequent as global temperatures rise. According to Harvard-affiliated PNAS research on Himalayan glacier lakes, the Himalayan region now holds thousands of glacial lakes at risk of sudden collapse, putting downstream communities in constant danger.

A powerful surge of water, mud, and debris travelled through communities and downstream areas, destroying homes, settlements, and vital infrastructure. Roads and bridges have been washed away, making some communities extremely difficult to reach. Search and rescue operations are continuing as families wait desperately for news of those who are still missing.

For those who survived, another struggle has begun. Families have been displaced from their homes and urgently need food, clean drinking water, shelter, hygiene supplies, and other everyday essentials.

Nepal is facing an emergency, and people need our support now.

HELP NEPAL NOW

More Than 800 People Are Still Missing

Perhaps one of the hardest parts of this disaster is the uncertainty. Hundreds of families still do not know where their loved ones are.

While rescue teams continue searching, communities are dealing with destruction on a huge scale. Research from McKinsey's climate risk analysis for Asia shows that South Asian communities face some of the highest exposure to extreme flooding events in the world, making rapid disaster response essential.

Imagine losing your home in minutes and then having to search for members of your own family. For many people in Nepal, this is not something they are watching on the news, it is their reality. And they should not have to face it alone.

What Your Donation to Nepal Can Help Provide

Every donation matters. Whether you give £10, £25, £50, £100, or more, your support can contribute towards emergency relief for families affected by the Nepal floods.

£25 - Can help towards emergency food and clean drinking water for families in need.

£50 - Can help provide essential food, hygiene, and household supplies.

£100 - Can help provide urgent emergency assistance to a flood-affected family.

£500+ can make a significant contribution towards emergency food, shelter, water, and essential aid for affected communities.

Give whatever you are able to give. If you would prefer a regular commitment, you can also set up a fundraiser or explore our Zakat calculator to see how your obligatory giving can support this response.

Your Sadaqah Can Bring Relief to Nepal

As Muslims, we are taught not to look away when people are suffering. The Prophet ◪ said:

“Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship of this world, Allah will relieve him of a hardship on the Day of Resurrection.”

— Sahih Muslim

Right now, families in Nepal are experiencing loss, fear, and uncertainty. This is an opportunity to turn our compassion into action.

You do not need to be wealthy to help. Give £10. Give £20. Give £50.

Give whatever Allah has enabled you to give.

Your sadaqah can help provide food, clean water, shelter, and essential support to people facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Why Nepal Needs Emergency Aid Now

The Nepal floods have not only destroyed homes, but critical infrastructure has also been badly damaged. Roads have been destroyed, bridges have been swept away, and transport and communication routes have been disrupted, making it harder to reach some affected communities.

Many families have lost food supplies, essential belongings, and their source of income. According to Deloitte's global humanitarian response programme, coordinated early support after a disaster significantly improves recovery outcomes for affected communities.

The immediate priority is helping people survive the aftermath of the disaster while communities begin the long process of recovery. That is why rapid emergency support is so important.

Mercy Outreach Global's Nepal Emergency Response

Through our partners on the ground, we aim to reach flood-affected families with practical emergency assistance based on the most urgent needs. Know more about our work or find out how you can get involved beyond donating.

The initial response will focus on essentials such as food, water, shelter, hygiene, and bedding. Our teams will work with local partners to identify vulnerable families affected by the disaster and distribute emergency assistance where it is needed. We also aim to document distributions and provide donors with updates from the response on the ground.

Nepal Will Disappear From the Headlines. The Need Won't.

Today, the world is watching Nepal. But eventually, the cameras will leave and the news will move on.

The families who have lost their homes cannot. The people searching for loved ones cannot. The communities left devastated by these floods will still need support long after Nepal stops trending.

Please don't wait.
